Why not just move him back down in the order and see what happens? it's not like it going to hurt their chances of making the coveted second wild card spot.

Jon Heyman of Fancred hears that Joe Girardi "absolutely wants the Cardinals job."

Girardi has been working as a studio analyst for MLB Network this year after getting fired from the Yankees following the 2017 American League Championship Series. Heyman writes Thursday that "Girardi’s friends say he is willing to take less [money] to manage the Cardinals" than he was getting with the Yankees -- believed to be around $4 million. Mike Shildt has been filling in as the interim manager in St. Louis since the firing of Mike Matheny on July 1

Cardinals are going to reclaim lost money on Holland, Fowler, etc. by going cheap with manager/coaches.

Since less than a handful of managers make $4 million a year, that's awfully generous of him.

Please no Girardi. That's a step backwards.

Bobby Valentine is available, in a last-kid-picked-during-gym kind of way.

Nope - let's look to the future with the next hire instead of backwards with Girardi.
