seemed like an over pay to me.
he is better than Leake at first glance and seems like a good guy and all.
certainly not an expected move for me at least.

At first, I thought it was supposed to be someone presently on the major-league roster, but this qualifies as "significant cost," too.lukethedrifter wrote:It was said the ptnb was a significant cost.

Re: pirates trade for archer
dgoold has mentioned several times that the Rays wanted a clear win on any trades they make.
this probably qualifies as such.

Re: pirates trade for archer
The Pirates gave Baz a little over $4m just over a year ago.
Archer is a guy with quite a bit of talent, but I thought the Rays won the trade when they got only Meadows and Glasnow. Getting Baz is a pretty significant add.
To put it in a way of comparison, the Cardinals gave Nolan Gorman slot money at $3.2m. The Pirates gave Baz almost a million dollars more. That's a significant cost and shows the way they viewed his talent at the time of drafting him.
