here's what else Mo said...
2019 positions "In pencil, not pen"

C - Yadier Molina
1B - Matt Carpenter "but he doesn't have to play 1st"
2B - Kolten Wong
3B -
SS - Paul DeJong
LF - Marcell Ozuna
CF - Harrison Bader
RF - Would like to see Fowler get back to form
Mo on free agent market:

"There's a lot of opportunity and we are open and in the market, but I have a responsibility to manage the finances in a smart way."

"We've consistently won without a face of the franchise player post-Pujols era."

so no......I wouldn't hold out hope on harper or machado

Signaling that you don't need Harper or Machado and would be happy to settle for someone like Donaldson is exactly what you do if you plan to pay whatever it takes to get Harper or Machado though

I don't thing we should overlook the impact that the Brewer's ascension is likely to have on our decision making. It's one thing to stick with a 85-90 win strategy when we are only looking up at one team. With two teams clearly ahead of us, it's the 2nd Wild Card or out.

We've been saying this for years now, but maybe the club will start to believe it.
