Arenado deal is a big blow to the Cardinals. They didn’t even get to pretend they were interested for two weeks.

letting all that powder dry for nothing :(

I see this quite a bit (not just from you).

Can someone explain to me what it means?

Good for the Rockies. I’ve seen Arenado play in Coors. Super exciting.

Arenado's best value is in Coors. And he knows it.

Arenado is...
All star from 2015-2018
Turns 28 in April.
6 GGs straight (doesn’t mean much I know)
3x NL HR leader
4x silver slugger
Top 5 in MVP voting each of the last 3 years

Has put up 5.8, 6.6, 7.2, and 5.6 bWAR the past 4 years.
Basically averaged a 130 OPS+ the last 3 years.

That earned him a 32.5m AAV. Taking him through the last 8 of the same 10 age years Bryce wants.

Either the Rockies got a deal, or Bryce Harper is gonna be overpaid. Maybe both or neither.

Either way, Arenado > Harper. Good on the Rockies.

bah! can't remember who it was...either Mo or BD Jr from several years ago

regarding keeping resources/money on hand to make a splash when the time is right, and used the phrase "dry powder" to reference it
