I think the hope is that O'Neill is ready to take Ozuna's place in a year.

What am I missing on Ozuna? Career 0.780 OPS. Not a terror on the basepaths.

He seems like he would age terribly. He strikes out 3x for every 1 walk. He has a career OBP of 330. The shoulder thing recently.

We really want to give a guy like that 20m for ages 29-35? He seems like the kind of guy you get all the controlled production from then cut bait before he becomes a pumpkin.

His baseball-reference comparables is interesting. Really no modern baseball guys. The top 5 comps were out of baseball by age 32 or done.

You're missing a lot.

EV/Hard hit/Bat speed are among the league's best so he won't age bad at all.

You're counting a year where he went to a new team and had Mabry ask him to experiment with a new stance and playing with a bum shoulder.

He's Starling Marte with more power. You ink that type of player. 3-3.5 WAR floor.

3-3.5 WAR floor? I'm not sure if you get the "floor" concept.

2.7 in a year where his batting stance was messed with and a bum shoulder.

Fully healthy I think he's 3 WAR at worst.

I don’t care about advanced metrics like bat speed when it equates to a 780 OPS on a typical year. What happens when those things decline as he gets older? 780 becomes 750 and lower? For 20m or so?

No thanks.

He's only exceeded 3 WAR twice in his career.

Not interested in any deal at this time, would have to see how the shoulder looks before I would even consider a new deal. But that doesn't change what appears to be a focus issue. Not a fan of his make up, my mind could change but I doubt it will. My I hope is he has great walk year, and he walks. I'd be happy with the draft choice.

I agree that we should cut bait with him after this year. He doesn’t walk enough, he needs a better launch angle, and his defense is terrible.

Fine for one year, no interest in $20 million a year long term.

The Cards are getting into the realm where they are going to have to sign *somebody*. They let Ozuna walk, who they going have play LF? O'Neill? Will they let Goldy walk too?

They are going to be in a situation where they need to start signing players just to have MLB players, because the minors aren't producing enough. Who out there is a better outfielder than Ozuna that they could either sign or trade for?

Harper. He is the only guy out there that is available, is younger and better than Ozuna. Rather than extending Goldy and/or Ozuna, they should just sign Harper. He gives you a real shot in 2019, and he is a player you can build around for several years beyond that, hopefully.
