Saving is only valuable if it allows you to do something else.

Love to sign players to huge deals before they fall might fall off the aging cliff.dmarx114 wrote:Like a Goldy extension.....MrCrowesGarden wrote:Saving is only valuable if it allows you to do something else.
How many 4+ or even 3+ WAR seasons will you get after Goldschmidt turns 32.5? Two? Three tops? I don't want to pay for what he did as a Diamondback.

Gonna go out on a limb and suggest that Goldy's extension at age 32 will be different than what his extension would be if he was 26. Just a guess.Big Amoco Sign wrote:Love to sign players to huge deals before they fall might fall off the aging cliff.dmarx114 wrote:Like a Goldy extension.....MrCrowesGarden wrote:Saving is only valuable if it allows you to do something else.

So you wouldn't have signed him at 26 if you could then?

6/165 or whatever is still not worth it for a guy falling off a potential aging cliff.dmarx114 wrote: Gonna go out on a limb and suggest that Goldy's extension at age 32 will be different than what his extension would be if he was 26. Just a guess.

End of the season I'd offer Goldschmidt 5/125 and front load it.Big Amoco Sign wrote:Love to sign players to huge deals before they fall might fall off the aging cliff.dmarx114 wrote:Like a Goldy extension.....MrCrowesGarden wrote:Saving is only valuable if it allows you to do something else.

I don't think that gets it done. If it's 5 years, I think the baseline is 150.
