Yes if half the staff fails Mo will have to get someone else. Right now you have Gomber, Poncedeleon, and Reyes in Memphis. Beyond them are question marks when it comes to big league talent.
You wouldn't consider Gomber, Ponce de Leon and Reyes question marks?
Keuchel makes so much sense, but that's the case for several teams. Teams can never have enough pitching and it's probable the Cardinals will need to go to the market for pitching regardless.
The only question mark with Reyes is if he can regain his control following the injuries he's had. The others, I think we pretty much know what we've got there.
I'm not arguing against adding Keuchel or anyone else. I just think it's unlikely.

Btw, who is our next up and coming starter? Mo usually has lots of dudes ready to come up but there's no one after Helsley.
Woodford? I don't know that he's ready.
Yeah, the next big name after Helsley and Hudson is Woodford. He's only 22 and already in AAA so, he definitely is showing signs of promise. He's certainly not ready yet, but neither was Hudson at the start of last year.
The team will give Reyes another five weeks or so to build up to the 100-pitch threshold, hoping his return can provide as big a boost as any trade or free-agency acquisition might.

They couldn't fit TBSOHL in there as well?
or keeping the powder dry by using in house candidates
Scratch this year, and maybe a Sept too. Too many things have spiraled. By the time he sniffs full recovery, and then getting his command and all that, somebody will have had a great year in Memphis. The more deserving candidate should\will get the call. Sympathy is gone in the FO regarding Alex. The world has your back when things you cant control bring you\your career to your knees. Everybody wants to see you overcome. But a lack of maturity just makes people's eyes roll.. And likely sets you back behind other guys who know better than to work things out via tantrum. Now he's become a joke.
