So we have the best pitchers of each decade (80s, 90s, 00s) decided based on GRB's scientific polling data; now let's see how they measure up against each other. I have a pretty good idea how this voting will go down; but it is fun anyway. Besides pitchers and catchers don't report until next week; so we need to do another poll to get us through.

I didn't see the point in doing a poll for the 60s or 70s; cuz Gibson; and we are not quite done with the 2010s yet.

The winners of the previous polls:

1980s: John Tudor
1990s: Bob Tewksbury
2000s: Chris Carpenter

I voted Jose DeLeon. You GOTTA be an amazing pitcher to lose that many games.
And if there is any doubt about this, NOBODY but nobody knows more about losing pitchers than Joey Baloney Shlabotnik.

This is some classic Shlabotnik right here.

I think you could make the argument that not only is Carpenter better than the other two, but Wainwright and Morris were too.

I don't have a problem with anyone voting for Carpenter; but watch that shildt talk about good old number 30. I love John Tudor forever.

To Tudor's credit, his overall numbers don't show just how dominant he was at times. I would put his best days up against anyone's, even up there with His Holiness Hoot 45, but those other guys put up a better overall decade IMO.

I have a child's nostalgic view of John Tudor; he was my hero back in the day. But he was also great. I almost burned down A-B when they traded him to the Dodgers. But I was 10 and couldn't drive there. Fair point that he didn't have the longevity of some of the others; but when you look at each of them their dominance was mostly two or three seasons with sub-par performances or injury years mixed in between; so it evens out a bit. I didn't look at the numbers that's just how I remember them.

As for Tewks...I liked him but the 90s were pretty weak when it comes to Cardinal pitching.

Did not know Tewks is now a mental skills coordinator for the Cubs. Not sure what that is, but it sounds very sad. insert crying mime meme.

Maybe my imagination, but these 3 guys seem to have a lot in common on personal side-hockey playing New Englanders Tewks and Carp both NH. They kind of remind me of each other as pitchers, though clearly Carp is the best version (velocity), then Tudor and Tewks an overachieving but distant 3rd.

Also, lets not forget Bob Forsch was a mainstay of 80s, though his 20 win season was in 70s.
