Matt Wieters appreciation thread
I can’t remember the last time this team had a backup catcher who wasn’t a near-total liability at the plate. It’s so refreshing to know Molina can have days off and even spend time on the IL and the team isn’t doomed to mediocrity. He’s showing pop and stifling the running game. I like him.

Been nice not seeing Yadi out there for a change. He's about done.

I was thinking last night that Yadi can take all the time he wants.

He probably should be the starter even when Yadi comes back. He won't though.

Wieters appreciation not Yadi hate. I agree that both Molina and the team can benefit from more equal playing time when he returns. But let's not forget that our most recent snapshot of Yadi had been with him playing hurt. When healthy he's still a productive player.

Let’s also not forget that he’s 37. He should probably be the backside of a timeshare.CardsofSTL wrote:Wieters appreciation not Yadi hate. Yeah. 37 year old catchers are rarely productive. Yadi is in a class of talent that he can be the exception, but I think our expectations for Molina need to be muted. Just like Wainwright will never be a Cy Young candidate again, Molina is not going to be the team MVP anymore.
