The Cardinals classy left handed pitching was on display today. Stupendous.

Come on. Overall the starting pitching has been really good and most of the regulars haven't played much.

And there's been a ton of relievers who aren't going to be on the major league squad so far.

Francisco Pena (oblique) will likely be ready to return to game action in 4-5 days.
Pena has been in shutdown mode since suffering an oblique injury last Tuesday. These sort of injuries often sideline players for weeks at a time, so it sounds like the Cardinals believe this one is minor. Either way, the 29-year-old figures to be on the outside looking in for a roster spot with Matt Wieters set to back up Yadier Molina.

Jedd Gyorko (calf) will likely return to game action in about 5-6 days.
Gyorko recently suffered a calf injury, so the Cardinals are taking it easy with him. It doesn't sound like something that will impact his availability for the start of the season, but the situation is worth watching. He's expected to serve in a utility role this season.

I haven't had a chance to see much of the action yet this spring. An inning here, an inning there. How has Marp looked at 3rd?

Cardinals make some trims. Here they are:

-Ramon Urias.
-Lane Thomas, who lost spring to an injury.
-Connor Jones
-Jake Woodford, who will be stretched out for a starter and positioned as one of the candidates to come up for a spot start, or if an opening appears in the rotation.
-Jose Godoy
-Brian O'Keefe

I've only seen a few innings of games he played in as well but I thought the arm looked strong enough for the position and maybe a bit better than I remembered from years past.

For me, while he definitely doesn't have a cannon over there, I think it is his throwing motion that makes it look worse. In the small sample size I saw, he was fielding the ball well, made a couple of nice plays and the ball was getting to first in time to get the out which is what matters in the end.

Disclaimer: It is spring training so I'm going to find a positive spin for everything short of a season ending injury or an absolute, complete dumpster fire of a spring training.

Don't worry, he'll be Beckett it in no time.
