Alex Reyes (lat) will make his Grapefruit League debut on Thursday against the Phillies.

Reyes was originally in line to make his debut on Tuesday or Wednesday, but the Cardinals are going to give him a couple of extra days before he hits the rubber in game action. It'll be his first competitive appearance since he had his year cut short due to the lat surgery he underwent that June. Expect the Cardinals to handle the talented right-hander with rubber gloves, and there's a good chance he won't break camp with the 25-man roster.

Why rubber gloves, is he infectious?

I don't know, but I'm sure comedy will ensue.
Hopefully it's from opposing hitters looking silly.

I didn’t read it either, but no.

It could be, but he would have to learn how to control it much better than he currently does to even be close to the conversation.

Randy Johnson still has the best fastball I have ever seen. I know people now throw harder, but relative to the era and the impact it had on hitters, Johnson is hands down the best of my age.

That also means I didn’t see Gibson, Seaver, etc.

No matter how hard a pitcher throws, he eventually has to get the hitter to swing.

Johnson threw hard and so did Ryan. But, the reason they both excelled was that they consistently beat hitters.

Command and control.

Yes, Ryan was renowned for his command and control.

The obvious answer is Mariano Rivera. He basically threw one pitch (cut fastball), and became the first unanimous HoF’er. That’s a pretty good fastball.

Bartolo Colon has been in the league 600 years throwing only a fastball.
