Mike Moustakas will serve as the Brewers' primary second baseman this season.
It was already moving in that direction, but Brewers manager Craig Counsel made it official on Monday. This means that Travis Shaw will function as the primary third baseman, so things will essentially be flip-flopped from where they were after the Moustakas trade last season.

Moustakas has never played 2b in the majors or minors.

Why would they do this? Shaw actually has played a little 2B before. Seems dumb as hell

It's proving to be a bad idea. Slow roller hit right at Moustakas and....it goes right into the OF.

Also Yelich has sucked in the field this spring.

MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports that the Nationals have signed free agent left-hander Tony Sipp.

Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post says it'll be a one-year, $1.25 million deal, with a mutual option for 2020. Sipp, 35, delivered a tremendous 1.86 ERA over 54 appearances last year out of the Astros' bullpen, holding left-handed batters to a .191/.263/.294 slash line. This is a slick mid-March pickup for Washington.

Yankees signed LHP Gio Gonzalez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

He'll earn $3 million on the deal with the Yankees if he makes it to the big leagues. The veteran southpaw is taking a massive pay cut after earning $12 million per season in each of the last three years with the Nationals. Since he already lives and trains in Florida, the plan is for him to join the Yankees this week, though he obviously won't be ready for the start of the regular season. The deal includes an opt-out for April 20 if he isn't on the big league roster by then. For a team that needed additional rotation depth due to injuries, Gonzalez makes for a very intriguing low-cost addition.

This and the Gio thing are just depressing.

Collusion sucks and makes baseball boring. Don't give me the "owners are just smarter" when we have Gant and Drew Robinson wasting a roster spots.
