Why would we listen to the players and agents? It would be pretty dumb of them to not make a case for players, wouldn't it? Which investigative journalists are you talking about?Big Amoco Sign wrote:Yeah, I admit it's not the best example. But I think there's evidence of collusion regardless. I seem to be the only one who cares about this here and trying to talk about something different and not "sully" the forum or whatever.
Minor league talent replacing aging useless vets has been around forever too. But some of those vets aren't useless--and it seems some are just told they are in order to get them cheaper. Gio had 3.7 WAR two years ago and 2.1 last year. I mean is he really that replaceable by AAAA talent? Do we need to reconfigure WAR metrics? It's silly to think, with this offseason, that it's just "owners being smarter." Considering not only the late deals/low deals/minor league deals and implied blackballing, but how it contrasts to other years' offseasons.
But don't just listen to me, listen to all the agents, players (former and current), and investigative journalists talking about this since December.
If it's collusion, then you'll have to explain to me why guys like JA Happ and Charlie Morton and Hyun-Jin Ryu got contracts.
Look, if you want to talk about the owners gouging fans with 10 dollar beers and 6 bucks for hot dogs, then I'll jump on board with you. I'm not interested in crying about billionaires taking advantage of multi-multi-multi millionaires though.
