I like your screen name. We just went to watch Jimmy Hall and the Prisoners of Love the other night in a local club. Killer blues show.

So, are the opposition also not using their everyday lineup for nine innings, starters are only stretched out to 4 to 5 innings, and there's still relievers getting innings that won't make the team for them too? Or do they play their top players/pitchers for all nine innings while we use scrubs for half the game?

If you are not familiar with Jimmy Hall...

Explain why these losses matter, who cares if those same situations for other teams are getting wins, for games that don't matter?
Generally in sports, winning is preferred to losing. Unless the team is tanking to get Zion Williamson.

We just tied the Mets. So, if losing is good, what is a tie? Good? Bad?
2016 Chicago Cubs Spring Training record 11-19
2016 Chicago Cubs Regular Season record 103-58
2016 World Series Champs Chicago Cubs

2016 L.A. Angels Spring Training record 19-8
2016 L.A. Angels Regular Season record 74-88

Here's just two examples that it doesn't matter, neither one of the organizations or fan bases remember those spring training records, and sure you can find examples where teams win spring training and have a good regular season, and vice and versa. But it doesn't matter.

Don't try to bring logic into this! Our season is over! At least in terms of making the playoffs.

Spring training doesn’t mean a lot, but I think it means something. Even though these games and stats don’t really matter for much, the players are probably still trying. For some players fighting for roster spots, it’s important.

Not hitting the panic button, but I think some reasonable skepticism is fair. Also, if the Cardinals were having a great spring training, there would be a line of people ready to buy the playoff tickets now. Just to point out a double standard that sometimes exists.

it doesn't really matter (their record)...it's great for younger guys trying to win a roster spot, but overall, don't think it matters/doesn't have any correlation to the regular season...

2018 - 17-13 in ST; 88-74 (Missed Playoffs)
2017 - 20-8 in ST; 83-79 (Missed Playoffs)
2016 - 11-13 in ST; 86-76 (Missed Playoffs)
2015 - 13-11 in ST; 100-62 (Won Div & Best Record)
2014 - 11-13 in ST; 90-72 (Won Div)
2013 - 16-15 in ST; 97-65 (Lost WS)
2012 - 16-9 in ST; 88-74 (WC)
2011 - 14-16 in ST; 90-72 (won WS)

so we've finished below .500 3x in ST in the last 9 years, and have missed the playoffs, won the division, and won the World Series in those 3 years

A 66% chance that they make the post season is what I'm taking out of this. I'm good with that for now.

In response to a question about whether Ozuna's spring means he's going start the season slowly, he said "wait til the lights come on". Maybe it's all the days games?
