Carlos Martínez (right shoulder cuff strain) has left for Memphis, where he’ll make a relief appearance for the Triple-A Redbirds on Wednesday. If he’s as efficient as his last outing (three outs on six pitches), Martinez will extend his outing into a second inning.

The St. Louis Cardinals are 13-4 at home this season and the Philadelphia Phillies are 5-8 on the road this season. This is a close match-up with both teams having a 45 to 55 percent chance of winning based on 10,000 game simulations generated one play at a time by the AccuScore Simulation Supercomputer. Cardinals\' starter Jack Flaherty is forecasted to have a better game than Phillies\' starter Jerad Eickhoff. Jack Flaherty has a 35% chance of having a Quality Start (QS) while Jerad Eickhoff has a 26% chance of a QS. If Jack Flaherty has a quality start the Cardinals has a 70% chance of winning. His simulated strikeout to walk ratio is 4.2 and he has a 32% chance of having a 5 to 1 K/BB ratio. When he has a 5/1 ratio the Cardinals win 56%. In Jerad Eickhoff quality starts the Phillies win 59%. He has a 20% chance of having a 5 to 1 K/BB ratio and if he does his team wins 59% of simulations. In simulations we tracked the batter for each team that was most productive based his average hits, walks and RBI per simulation. The most productive batter for the St. Louis Cardinals is Marcell Ozuna who averaged 2.69 hits+walks+RBI. He has a 47% chance of having a big game with 3+ Hits, Walks, RBI and if he has a big game the Cardinals have a 64% chance of winning. The most productive batter for the Philadelphia Phillies is Rhys Hoskins who averaged 2.72 hits+walks+RBI. He has a 45% chance of having a big game with 3+ Hits, Walks, RBI and if he has a big game the Phillies have a 58% chance of winning.
