Hell no.

No O'Neill trades. Ozuna leaves after this year and the OFs coming up the farm blow.

Yes. They could trade for a left-handed starter.

But they won't.

I was just going to say that. Carlson looks spectacular and he's relatively close.

O'Neill sure looks like trade bait to me. They're addicted to Martinez in the OF and I would be surprised if the DH is installed next season. It's going to take a few years.

Carlson is in AA and Ozuna is gonzo after this season.

I would expect a promotion for Carlson by the latter part of the MiLB season. Just depends on how good he is. We might need a stopgap starter next season, but they're not that hard to come by. It wouldn't stop me from moving O'Neill if it lands us an elite caliber SP.

How has MadBum held up the last few years? He has lots of hard mileage on that arm. I'd be afraid of trading for him and then he turns into little Timmy Linecum.

Cardinals sure take their time on those promotions. Even if he does, I see a year or two of up and down trips before being a starting lineup mainstay. Earliest for that is 2021 with 2022 more likely. Just look at Bader, O'Neill, Grichuk, any of our OF the past few years, etc. But if they think he's a diamond in the rough DeJong type, then fine, I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Not sure what elite SP O'Neill can get you. Marco Gonzales? lol
