Re: 5/22 GM1 GDT: Royals(Keller) vs Cardinals(Wacha) 12:15PM
With severe weather expected to move into the St. Louis area on Tuesday evening, the Cardinals proactively postponed their series opener against the Royals and rescheduled it as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday.
The two clubs will still play Wednesday’s regularly scheduled 12:15 p.m. CT game at Busch Stadium. That will be followed by a 6:45 p.m. contest to wrap up the first of two series between the I-70 rivals. Fans with tickets to Tuesday’s game can use them for Wednesday’s nightcap.
Michael Wacha, who was slated to start on Tuesday, will start the first game against Brad Keller. Adam Wainwright will face Homer Bailey in Game 2.
With Tuesday’s game wiped from the schedule, the Cardinals were afforded consecutive days off. They’ll have another on Thursday, as well.

So does Wieters get the start in the day or the night game?

I didn’t realize Tots was 0-3 in stolen base attempts.

Lane Thomas will serve as the 26th man for the Cardinals in Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals.
He'll only be available for the second game of the doubleheader. Thomas went 4-for-10 with four RBI in seven games with the Cardinals back in April, but this will be an even shorter stay.

Yadier Molina is out of the Cardinals' starting lineup for the first half of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals.
Yadi looked to be enjoying himself during the St. Louis Blues' series-clinching Game 6 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night, so he'll grab some rest during the early tilt. Matt Wieters is starting at catcher and batting eighth versus Royals right-hander Brad Keller.

Wacha on thin ice. Throw strikes, man.

Wacha has been a huge disappointment. Just a "fine" season from him and we would be ok. A good season and we're great, but our SP's have been a nightmare. So much worse than expected. Flaherty, our best starter, is probably about where I expected our worst starter. We've been sort of celebrating AW and how "surprisingly good" he's been and he has an ERA approaching 5. This has to turn around soon.MinorLeagueGuy wrote:Wacha on thin ice. Throw strikes, man.
Still... with the rotation being beyond terrible, we're surviving. A game over .500 after what has to be the worst stretch of team ball we'll see all season.
