For the second straight game, the Marlins will be relying on one of their young pitching prospects because of injury.

Opening Day starter José Ureña was scheduled to get the nod, but the right-hander will be heading to the injured list with lower back tightness.

“He's been getting a little bit of treatment for it,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said after Tuesday’s 7-1 loss. “So, it's not something that wasn't totally out of the blue. It's not something we really thought was anything. Then after the 'pen, when he comes in today, it was a different thing.”

Urena will join left-hander Caleb Smith (left hip inflammation) on the injured list. Elieser Hernandez started in Smith’s spot on Tuesday, and was charged with three runs in 5 2/3 innings.
A nine-time All-Star who has made the NL team in each of the past two seasons, Molina has garnered 202,401 votes through the first balloting update. The Cubs' Willson Contreras paces all NL catchers with 850,613 votes. Molina last started in the Midsummer Classic in 2013.

Other Cardinals in the top 10 for their respective positions include first baseman Paul Goldschmidt (sixth), second baseman Kolten Wong (eighth), third baseman Matt Carpenter (ninth) and Paul DeJong (sixth), who boasts the third-highest OPS among NL shortstops. Marcell Ozuna ranks 14th among outfielders in voting.

"Paul DeJong's played All-Star-caliber baseball," Shildt said. "He's had a rougher stretch recently offensively, but his defense has still been elite and his baserunning has been superior, and overall his numbers are pretty darn good. I'd like to make sure he gets consideration."

Roster gaming more than anything. May not want to start Gallen's clock. Kind of how we bring up Genesis when we have better pitchers.

Edit: who knows actually? Because Gallen is still ranked as their 18th best prospect. Behind Yamamoto.

According to the Marlins radio guys, it was most likely just Yamamoto's turn to pitch in the minors, so they just brought him up to pitch the MLB game. They know they suck.
