Weaver threw a gem for Memphis tonight. The rest of the system had a horrible day.

Alcantara couldn't find the strike zone the first couple innings. Walked a few, gave up a few hits on grooved pitches. Very mediocre. He did strike out the 2nd batter iirc he faced with a 101 mph rocket. Got deep in a lot of counts and couldn't put anyone away.....mostly because he couldn't throw strikes.

Re: 2017 Minor League Season
Carlson really improving. Remember, he is only 18.5 yrs old at the MWL, thats younger than Sierra and OTav were their first time in the MWL.
In April his K% was almost 42%. So far in May it is down under 23%. All the while he has maintained his near 15% BB rate.
Plummer puttig up some very interesting numbers in the MWL as well. 19.1% BB rate with a .189 ISO. Not bad after missing an entire season with a hand injury.

Re: 2017 Minor League Season
I think Plummer was said to have an advanced approach for a high schooler right? He's striking out a lot, but a 146 wRC+ as a 20-year-old who hasn't played steadily in two years is a positive start.
They are obviously high on Carlson to not only push him to the MWL, but let him go through the bumps and bruises that come with it.

I agree. I hope they let him stick out all year too, unlike Sierra, even if his avg doesn't climb very highFarewell Friends wrote:I think Plummer was said to have an advanced approach for a high schooler right?
