Re: 2017 Minor League Season
DeJong has homered in both games he's played in since the demotion. He's up to .299/.339/.571. The lack of walks will probably keep him from being a full-time player, but with time he might make Gyorko expendable.
Bader is up to .297/.353/.489, but his walk rate has been declining by the month.
If Oscar Mercado is the real deal in center field, he's probably the most exciting outfielder they've got. He's hitting .324/.379/.480 with 20 stolen bases in 29 attempts.

Bader is hitting .300/.360/.500. A 23-year-old hitting that well in Triple-A should be encouraging, but I can't think of him as anything more than a trade chip.

yea ive havent really been sold on bader but if he can maintain the 23% K% (or obviously improve upon it) then he could be a very serviceable to good player. a good chip to throw in a trade for a middle of the order bat, imo.

Yeah, he seems more serviceable than anything else. I try not to scout the stat line, but with that walk rate, you're basically hoping he cuts down on strikeouts enough to be Charlie Blackmon.

Re: 2017 Minor League Season
i seem to recall him being dubbed a speedy CFer whose bat may come around (obviously based purely on memory) but it seems ole randy is having himself a nice season after a putrid start:
St. Louis Cardinals prospect Randy Arozarena went 2-for-4 for Palm Beach in the Florida State League, raising his line to .271/.30/.475. That’s really good for the pro-pitching FSL, good for a 129 wRC+.

This is from red baron at VEB:
ETA: Arozarena is hitting .294/.356/.546 with 16 doubles, 2 triples, 7 homers, 9 walks and 31 strikeouts since May 1. He's also 7-for-9 on stolen bases. The OBP is boosted by seven HBPs, though.
Arozarena is an absolute bundle of athleticism, compact and explosive. He might be a 70 runner, right in competition with Machado for raw speed. He’s quick as well as fast, making him a constant threat on the basepaths, and a dynamic defender in the field. He put up very solid offensive numbers in Cuba, based on that speed and a swing that generates a decent amount of pop, as well as a surprisingly well-developed idea of the strike zone for a player so young. Until we see him against competition here in the states, though, it’s all a lot of conjecture as to how his game is going to translate.
The question of what his offense is going to look like, though, doesn’t change the dynamism of his game. He’s played all over the infield in the past, as well as in center field, and it would seem to be center where he’s projected to fit long term. The jumps and straight-line speed speak to a player capable of plus defense there, and simply allowing his legs to carry him should make for an easier transition than worrying about infield footwork and the like.
https://www.vivaelbirdos.com/2017/2/10/ ... -arozarenaPlayer Comp: With plus-plus speed in center field and a dynamic offensive game, Arozarena feels a little like a Carl Crawford starter kit. Also like Crawford, he lacks the arm for right field, so if he has to move off center, left is the most likely destination. Unlike Crawford, though, Arozarena throws with his right, so he could potentially move back into the dirt at second, or possibly become a super utility player, should center field not work out for him.
ETA: Arozarena is hitting .294/.356/.546 with 16 doubles, 2 triples, 7 homers, 9 walks and 31 strikeouts since May 1. He's also 7-for-9 on stolen bases. The OBP is boosted by seven HBPs, though.

Zac Gallen got bumped to Memphis after just nine starts at Palm Beach and four at Springfield. He struck out eight with zero walks in five innings. He did give up three runs, but that's not bad for a calendar year removed from college.
