Well, at least we didn't draft this Donaldson character that the cubs did (at #48). On MLB's draftcaster they say this about him:
"....he may make for a good backup catcher who plays the game the right way."
Holy wow, that's a bad review for guy drafted in the top 50!

P.S. This Harvey guy is still on the board, and we're at pick #52.

If you get good players, you're going to have to pay them. So you and the Cardinals rather draft mediocre players because they cost less and let the big time prospects go to the teams that will pay for big talent.
He dropped to what -- #28?

How many other teams' fans do you think are playing the "god we're cheap" card?

Edit: and the font thing is a lame fad that I won't take part in.

Well, since the Cardinals are at 90 mil, I'm going to take "nearing" from you to mean at least 88 then. And in that case half of the major leagues. 15. http://blog.sportscolumn.com/story/2007/4/9/1367/60158/

Exactly, it's who you want to believe. I really don't want to believe Dewitt.

Of course you don't. Because everything is a conspiracy.

If the Cardinals truly are limited in what they can spend, is it wiser to try bringing pitchers up through the system (even at the cost of a high signing bonus), or is it more financially wise to test the market a few years from now when pitchers like Marquis and Suppan have already set a precedent for enormously inflated salaries? Because the Cardinals, through this draft, are setting themselves up for the enormously inflated salaries side of things, and not the cheaper route of bring pitchers up through the system.
