Tyler Henley
For you minor league guru's:
What's his story and why is he still in Double A? It looks like he has that pitching figured out. Is he someone worth watching?

Re: Tyler Henley
Fast, scrappy player with limited upside. He is a Lenny Dykstra type on the field, and is definitely a battler. Plays the game like a football player. Probably doesn't have the power to be a starter in the bigs, and plays a corner OF spot, so if he makes the bigs, he needs to be more versatile.
Not someone we really need to follow, but that doesn't mean he can't make it. He will definitely work to do so. Think of a scrappier, faster Skip, who only plays OF.

I don't know much about him, but he's all ready got 10 home runs, and an OPS of .930.
Skip never hit 10 homers in a season, or OPS'd over .847.
Nevertheless, if he plays good D, can hit a bit, and is a gamer, he's a fine bench piece.

All true, but Springfield is a very hitter friendly park. I've only seen Henley play once, but from that viewing, I definitely agree with what phinstd is saying about him.robbotis wrote:I don't know much about him, but he's all ready got 10 home runs, and an OPS of .930.

I generally try to put comparables for those who may not have seen a player in person. He does have a little pop, probably a little more than Skip. He is also a little faster than Skip is.robbotis wrote:I don't know much about him, but he's all ready got 10 home runs, and an OPS of .930.

With that said, Springfield is a very good hitters park, and is a very good hitters league overall. The fact he has OPS'd over .930 is great, and if he ends the season that high, he'll undoubtedly earn himself a little more recognition. I can't compare a full season in a tougher park for Skip, to half a season in a hitters haven for Henley.
