I know but my point was Jenkins is only a MWL All Star since most of the best pitchers in that league in the beginning of the season are already up at High A or AA now.

Um, not really.

A lot of times, teams go ahead and let prospects that are young for the Midwest League (or age appropriate) play a whole season here, even if they are tearing it up. Incidentally, these also end up being some of the very best prospects, too. This is true of the Midwest League at least. Once they get to high A, AA, etc, they seem to accelerate their move up the ladder a bit.

For example, Shelby Miller, Matt Adams, Oscar Taveras, Kolten Wong, and Trevor Rosenthal all finished the season here despite tearing it up...Now we're affiliated with the Astros...I'd be mildly surprised if Correa or McCullers got moved up this season...Guys who come into the MWL older to begin with (i.e. drafted after college for example) are the ones who get moved up quickly if they succeed right out of the gate...Or, like Wacha, they skip this level entirely.

I always view the MWL All-Star Game as a scouting event. I never understand how the players are picked. I viewed it as a way to get a bunch of the top prospects together in 1 place so all the scouts and execs could check them out.

Jenkins is up at Palm Beach now but with the same 4+ ERA.

Cardinals prospect Tyrell Jenkins underwent season-ending surgery Monday on his right shoulder.
Jenkins is expected to need 6-8 months of recovery time. The 21-year-old right-hander registered a disappointing 4.70 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 40/25 K/BB ratio in 59 1/3 innings this season between Low-A Peoria and High-A Palm Beach. He was the 50th overall pick in 2010.

It's a recovery race between Jenkins and Gast.

Ready... set... go!

I guess he could... and then get injured playing football. His compensation would be significantly less, though.

Hey, Johnny Football shows that you can still make some money playing college football.
