Reds signed OF Daryl Jones to a minor league contract.
Jones, 24, batted .260/.360/.400 with seven home runs, 35 RBI and three stolen bases in 100 games this season between Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis. He has some tools, but probably isn't good enough at one particular thing to have a projectable future in the major leagues.

If Jones isn't showing that high of a batting average, power or stolen bases in the minors it's hard to think he'll ever project to be a major leaguer.

It's a decent depth addition...who knows...in that park he could be a 30/30 guy.

Perfect case study on why you shouldn't get to giddy about prospects who get off to hot starts.

I was djones' number 1 fan a few years ago.

Now I can't stop crying everytime I think of him.

When you get passed by Adron Chambers, you know it's time to get the resume together.

In fairness to Jones after his breakout year he started off pretty good and then had knee problems that led to surgery and a long recovery...one that probably derailed any chance he had at making it. I don't think he flopped as it is with many players injury bug kills their career

I was sort of skeptical of a left fielder without power even before the injuries.

He'd be lucky to earn a few pinch-running cameos with the Reds.
