The MLB draft is different from other sports, because the majority of players drafted never make it to the major leagues. I don't think that baseball should get rid of it, though. I am also against a salary cap in MLB.

That article seemed very focused on the 1st 10 rounds. Part of the purpose of the draft is to fill out your 1st year MiLB rosters. If a team blows their entire 1-10 round wad on 1 dude, which they could do, then it's stud and who-dats for their rookie ball or low A team.
That's too much trust to put in the owner's hands. Sadly, they need some checks & balances in the system.
