International Signings

Post by jim »

Apparently the Yankees signed the majority of the top 15 Int'l prospects, they blew completely threw the signing limit and will be facing serious penalties but I don't think they care. A few extra bucks.

Sorry for the formatting but it's a cut and paste.

The Dodgers signed 5 players on the first day too.

If I were the GM of a big money team I would probably do this every other year like clockwork. I'd gobble the talent in year one, take the hit in year two, gobble the talent in year three, etc. Is that taking advantage of the CBA? Sure. Would the CBA change to stop me the next time around? Probably. But I'd do it as long as possible to try to get as many lottery-ticket opportunities as possible to develop Beltres and Papis and Pedros and Vlads.

Agreed. Any team that doesn't is doing it wrong.
