The only other 2015 draftees in AA are Dansby Swanson (#1 pick), Alex Bregman (#2 pick), and Carson Fulmer (#8 pick)

Also Paul DeJong...

I wonder what valeras defensive metrics say. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the worst fielder in milb

Carson Kelly is mashing in May....368/455/474. 4 straight multi-hit games.

Cardinals RHP prospect Jake Woodford spun eight shutout frames Tuesday in a win for Low-A Peoria.
He struck out five and allowed just four hits in his longest start of the season. Woodford retired 11 hitters in a row at one point between the third and seventh innings. The 19-year-old hasn't allowed an earned run since May 3. He's won his last three starts while trimming his ERA from 3.68 to 2.22. The No. 39 pick in last year's draft has made an immediate impact in Peoria and could be headed for a promotion soon.

By my count, here are the Cardinals pitching prospects to watch....please throw someone's name I might be leaving out.

Alex Reyes, Memphis (41 K%, 11 BB%, 1.90 ERA, 3.16 FIP)
Luke Weaver, Springfield (one start so far)
Austin Gomber, Palm Beach (19 K%, 6 BB%, 3.12 ERA, 3.12 FIP)
Jack Flaherty, Palm Beach (23 K%, 8 BB%, 4.38 ERA, 3.03 FIP)
Sandy Alcantara, Peoria (28 K%, 12 BB%, 5.21 ERA, 3.86 FIP)
Junior Fernandez, Peoria (20 K%, 10 BB%, 2.94 ERA, 3.54 FIP)
Jake Woodford, Peoria (17 K%, 8 BB%, 2.14 ERA, 3.70 FIP)

The Peoria guys are all 20 and younger....Flaherty is 20, Reyes is 21, Weaver is 22 and Gomber is 23. This could turn out to be another solid crop of pitchers.

I've always been one of the high guys on Carson, so I'm hoping this is a real breakthrough year and not a Springfield mirage. He's finally starting to hit a little bit and his defense behind the plate has always been a revelation in how quickly he took to it.

Reyes is the obvious guy for us to make the Futures, but it should be fun to see him air it out for an inning.

Sandy Alcantara, rhp, Cardinals. Alcantara is part of a stacked Peoria staff that also includes Junior Fernandez, Derian Gonzalez, Ryan Helsley, Jake Woodford and Brennan Leitao. It’s not surprising the Chiefs won the first-half title in the Western division of the Midwest League. All of the pitchers have their strengths and warts, but Alcantara might have the best pure stuff. On Saturday, he allowed just one hit and three walks in 6 1/3 innings while striking out 10 in a 2-0 loss to Clinton (Mariners). Alcantara has an explosive fastball with late movement that looks even faster because of his long, thin frame. Commanding his secondary offerings is still a work in progress and that has led to 4.9 walks per nine innings.
