Minors 2016

Post by go birds »

was just browsing the prospect report and noticed that Bader is off the a hot start to the tune of .379/.400/.414 (.611 BABIP) and playing CF. Last year, he ended with a line of .301/.364/.505.

not really sure why this was on Rotoworld's front page--seemed pretty random but:
Cardinals OF prospect Harrison Bader ripped four hits Wednesday in a victory for Double-A Springfield.
It's been a productive year for Bader, who now has eight multi-hit games in only 18 appearances. Wednesday's game alone raised his average 35 points from .303 to .338. The 21-year-old is still striking out a lot—he's whiffed 22 times in 71 at-bats this season—but the rest of his stats are right where they need to be. The Cardinals selected Bader in the third round of last year's draft following a successful college career at the University of Florida.

So, is Bader playing any CF? That's where he would fit best going forward considering his skill set.

Not a huge surprise that he continues to perform well since he was pretty much drafted as an "as is" player. Would like to see more power if he's going to be stuck in a corner OF spot. Not any real reason to get your hopes up high with Bader, as far as him being an impact player, but this is the kind of player that can really make a big difference on a roster. Sort of like Piscotty in that regard. Probably not as good.

Hope he keeps hitting.

I know you said don't get hopes too high yet, but I don't see a Piscotty comparison.

He's more likely to be what we hope Hazelbaker will be. That's still useful, though.

Yeah...I don't really see the Piscotty comparison. He is 14 for his last 27 w/ 2 K's and now up to a pretty ridiculous .366/.422/.570 line. He also appears to suck at stealing bases.
