College baseball 2010

Post by phins »

It's Opening Day in college baseball today, and my Missouri State Bears take on #6 Georgia Tech, and expected top-5 pick RHP Deck McGuire. Bears starting pitcher is second team All-American (and Cape Cod All-Star) Aaron Meade.

My 'Canes are opening up against Rutgers this evening, with Eric Erickson on the mound.

I love college baseball, unlike many I understand, but it's a lot of fun.

My UCO Bronchos (yes, that's spelled correctly) just knocked off Emporia State earlier this week. Number 1 Emporia State, [expletive].

I'm excited to watch Meade a few times this year, but I have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed.

Really? Why is that? Missouri State usually churns out big time pitchers. He's pitching well today against a stacked G Tech lineup. Gave up a leadoff HR to his first batter of the year, and has been mowing them down since.

Just call it a feeling. Until I see otherwise, I'm going to pretend he's a deceptive lefty with marginal stuff.

I live within a 15 minute drive from Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine and have never attended a college game- maybe I will start.
