Defenestration? I missed that part of the game.

Edu and Bradley sound like the stars of the game. Clint doing the damn thing, but it sounds like Bradley's time in Italy has helped him immensely.

Tim Howard was a monster today. Fabian Johnson looks like the best left back we have, Mo Edu played his strongest in a US kit ever and of course, Michael Bradley is still a star and of course, the man himself cannot be denied.

Good news there, but what the hell is going on with those jerseys? Are those vests? Please tell me that is just a one-off uni.

Hahaha...that was my thought. Excellent strike! What is up with those uni's?!

Why does autocorrect have to be so dumb? It changed defenes to defenestraton instead of defense.

Spain is good.

also, the kid was told he'd be invited back to next camp. They already had two guys they considered as 1 and 2 but he really impressed the gk coach. told to work on his burst- plyometrics, etc.

That's awesome about your nephew, Luke.

Dempsey with two more today making it 18 on the year. Altidore with his 10th which I believe is top 10 in the league despite not starting consistently.

Last summer was a recent low point for US Soccer. Here we are 8 months later and I'm as optimistic as ever. Bradley, Dempsey took a next step while maintaining their American, underdog edge, Landon after looking tired last fall bouncing back giving me hope that he can morph into a Scholsian/Beckhamian veteran, the emergence of Shea, ze German contingent giving us much improved depth & the continued growth of MLS in a recession has been great to see.

Remember when U.S. fans thought Michael Bradley started because his dad was the coach?
It’s a distant memory with Bob no longer in charge, but for those wondering whether Bradley Jr. is a quality midfield option look no further than his performance on Wednesday as the U.S. won 1-0 against Italy.
The Chievo midfielder was arguably man of the match, and you can see why in the highlights above. Cool, composed and collected on the ball, Bradley does it all – breaking up Italy’s attacks, finding the open man, dispossessing Italian attackers in the ball with no fuss and no frills.
It may lack the pizzazz of some of the world’s exciting goal scorers, but there’s little questioning how valuable his performance was in the win. Pay specific attention (or fast forward) to around the two-minute mark as his simple chipped pass starts the sequence ending with Clint Dempsey’s game-winner.

His speed in decision making and his temper were his only weaknesses and his stint in Italy, where the box-to-box midfield general position is revered, has seemingly improved both of those things immensely.

That highlight reel did a good job of capturing how good of a match Bradley had. He's always been one of the best decision makers out of the back midfield on the US side. He has superior ball control and patience. It seems like so many US players freak out when they are in tight space, but he's always been composed. I didn't understand it early on when Klinsman wasn't playing him. He seemed a natural fit for his style of play. At least he's figured it out now.
