Nowhere in the CBA does it state that you have to be better than 99% of all other basketball players. That's the NBA hiring standard, not a requirement.
Well, in that case... You don't have to be an engineer to be hired as an engineer, again, you just have to find a hiring manager stupid enough to hire you. You don't have to be an accountant to be hired as an an accountant. You don't have to be a lawyer to be hired by a law firm to be a lawyer. You don't have to be a pilot to fly a plane. You don't have to be a captain to navigate an oil tanker. All of these are hiring standards as you
can get hired to do any of these jobs without the necessary training. You'll just suck ass and be fired immediately, probably killing people before you do in a lot of the scenarios.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it is a requirement to possess a pilot's license to
fly a plane. And I assume it's a requirement that you have to be licensed to
captain an oil tanker. To be an accountant, you have to
pass the CPA exam. You have to have a license to
practice law, also. All of those things are mandated.
You are talking about practicing one's profession, however. I am simply talking about being hired as one of these professionals. There's no requirement to be hired as a professional only to perform in an official capacity. Same as basketball.
This is really a stupid argument, btw.
