Isn't Manning pretty doubtful to ever play again? A guy of his calibre is obviously worth a flier, but I hope these clubs aren't planning on him playing next year.

No, he's been throwing pretty well and teams are expecting him to be pretty much back to normal.

Football contracts are weird mirages. Manning just signed a retarded contract last year and that's one reason Indy had to dump him.

I'd take a historic 16 over 1 seed, but LIU Brooklyn looks completely over-matched so far.

Seahawks attempting to recapture the Matt Hasselbeck magic again, which I'm pretty sure is going to fail. Miami's head coach worked with Flynn since he was drafted, and wouldn't match a $10 million guarantee.

It is funny how the whole Manning thing doesn't have me completely disgusted with the 24 hour coverage like Favre did. I guess it must be because Manning isn't an arrogant ass like Brett.

He hasn't thrown a football more than 25 yards at 'normal' speed in over a year.

10 months ago they said he wouldn't miss a game.
8 months ago they said he'd be back by the 4th game.

Word around here is that he's done. It's the same chronic, degenerative issue that pushed Cooper out of football in high school. Apparently one day he showed up to practice and just couldn't close his hands around the ball. Peyton has the same issue, but his is affecting his triceps. Which are kind of important to throwing a football.

I think he'll play next year, but I doubt he'll be the 4 time MVP carry a team to the playoffs Manning. There's a decent chance Tebow is actually a better passer at this point.

It's not the same condition that his brother had, which was a rapid, progressive cervical stenosis. Peyton no doubt has some stenosis also from degenerative changes, but the two conditions are completely separate from a pathophysiological and prognostic standpoint.

Everyone has seen Manning throwing deep at the Duke workouts, and he threw well enough in private workouts that the Broncos, Titans, and 49ers were all willing to dump their current QBs for him.

It's not like Manning is being the prima donna in trying to decide if he wants to play or not. He clearly wants to. It's just a matter of his health.
