I always appreciate how the winter olympics feature Minnesotans - Vonn, Jessie Diggins (who I met briefly a couple years ago), several former Gophers and UM-Duluth players on the various hockey teams (esp the women's teams), curling teams.

I'm looking forward to the women's hockey gold medal game tonight.

Jessie Diggins is from Afton MN, the same tiny ass town that Mrs. Swirls boards her horse at. I have to drive through there 3-4x a week every morning at like 5:45am on my way to work to drop off her grain supplements.

Whoa - the US Curling team just beat the Canadians in the semifinal.

The universe just isn't right these days.

Marginally related: why are there separate men's and women's curling teams?

I wonder...should the granite shortage become a serious issue, would they switch a mixed-doubles only format for curling to curtail the number of competitions?
