Now sounds like Blues and Calgary may be talking. Flames don't have a first round pick and want to get one, but I don't know what it would be for.

can't believe veleno, top 5-10 prospect/ranking coming into the draft is still out there in the 20's...hope he falls to us; not counting on it though (center to boot)

Blues move up to 25 with Toronto. Give up 29 and 76.

It doesn't seem like Bokk was a terrible pick. I get the want for Veleno, but Bokk was supposedly a player in the 15-20 range by most scouts. Pronman I think had him at 8.

I still am more concerned with how next year's roster looks because without a second line, they ain't going anywhere.

Veleno was a top 10 pick by nearly every outlet...top 5 in some

And a center (not a winger like bokk)

I’m mostly joking...I’m fine with the pick; but I saw no need to trade up for it.

And veleno was a need, AND falling into our laps

Joe Veleno - C - Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings selected Joe Veleno with the 30th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Veleno is an intelligent two-way forward who has the ability to make the players around him better. He was granted exceptional status by Hockey Canada to join the CHL as a 15-year-old. Veleno is the fifth player to earn that honor, following in the footsteps of John Tavares, Aaron Ekblad, Connor McDavid, and Sean Day. He posted 22 goals and 79 points in 64 matches with Saint John and Drummondville last season. Veleno had a slow start with the rebuilding Sea Dogs, but he heated up again as a member of the Voltigeurs with 16 goals and 48 points over 33 appearances. He added five goals and 11 points in 10 playoff matches. Veleno also had three helpers in four games for Canada at the World U18 Championship. He is a quick, well-rounded forward who makes responsible plays with the puck and can fill the net. Many hockey experts had Veleno in the top 15 of this draft. The fact the Wings were able to snag him at number 30 is a real coup
