It would be made public but there would be a chance because of 12 people who aren't smart enough to get out of jury duty that he could lose the case.

It's a commercial. He got reportedly at least 60 million dollars to do a lot of good for organizations that need it.
Granted, NFL has so much money, that it is virtually impossible to penalize them in a way it hurts financially, but my guess is that NFL still would have preferred to pay a lot less and let CK and Reid keep their moral high ground.
An NDA seems like a Booby prize (on NFL side) when everybody knows who won this. Maybe other players can't use a case like this as precedent against the NFL. but that won't deter others from trying for an assortment of reasons.
Business of Lawyering for ex-NFL players has to be lucrative AF.
