The Arkansas derby winner had to withdraw so I know nothing about the race other than it is today and baffert probably has a bunch of good horses in it.

Winner Maximum Security disqualified. Country House at 65-1 declared winner.

First time Kentucky Derby decided on a disqualification.

Dancer's Image was DQ'd in 1968. These are things you learn when you grow up in Louisville.

Maximum Security was robbed. Mueller needs to look into this.

Meh, I definitely see the critics side. But they’re living animals alive solely because they’re able to race. They’re treated well and with respect during their lives. And, when necessary, they’re put to sleep in a - relative to most any death besides passing away during sleep - quick and painless manner. And that’s about as much as any living animal, including humans, could ask for on the mortal coil.

Yeah, definitely a frustrating way to finish the Derby. But, undoubtedly they made the correct call and replay has always been around in racing at least as far back as I can remember. Horses doing what Maximum Security did is incredibly dangerous. Rewatching it this morning, you can see how close they were to disaster. The 1 horse was within inches of clipping the 7 horse which would have resulted in total carnage.

It's a minute long event so while that minute can be really exciting it still is highly overrated of an event.
