Kevin Goldstein added to his earlier opinion (said it was an outstanding trade for the As)

Quote:
Look, it's a good deal for Cardinals too, flags fly forever, wouldn't you rather be STL in the standings? That's what it's really about.

You won't hear me [expletive] and moaning about the Cardinals front office mid-season trades for white former NL players with AL Central and West teams in July to fix holes in the offense until at least November.

Fun fact: Colby Rasmus has started 16 of 18 games this month.

He's also 5 (all singles) for his last 42.

Nice write-up on Holliday and his reaction to the trade by one of the only writers worth reading ESPN.com for, Jayson Stark:

And the PD's story, which has a lot of the Cardinals POV on the trade. I like everything I hear from Mo in here:

i kind of want to start a 'will we re-sign Holliday?' poll, but that could be a buzzkill on a great Cardinals day.

How big of a deal to get a player like (Holliday)? It's as big as his biceps.

Is that how power batting stats are going to be listed now: non-Bonds numbers?

Also, did Albert just not make himself available all day? I haven't seen or heard any comment from him. I assume he's happy? (That's the goal, right? 8-[ )
