2014 Fantasy Baseball Roster Moves Discussion Thread

Post by mikechamp »

I have a dilemma on my hands. I currently have Chris Archer holding down the last spot on my roster, but I could drop him and pick up AJ Burnett or Yordano Ventura.

Who would you take of those 3?

Archer all day, especially if you are in a re-draft league. He probably has the best slider among SP in MLB and a mid-90s fastball. He's incredibly intelligent. He has great athleticism. He has a fantastic defense behind him (though so does Yordano) and plays in a very pitcher-friendly park that will both contribute to keeping his WHIP and ERA down. He's the most likely of the bunch to help you in the W column too.

Ventura is a very small-framed pitcher. Injury and durability would worry me with him, and would temper my enthusiasm for his stuff.

Burnett is on a train-wreck team with a lousy defense behind him. Avoid.

No keepers. If your league is keeper or dynasty I might roll with Yordano.

Thanks.

Yeah, I run a re-draft league.

Then especially Archer. There's also the question of innings/starts this year. Arch will get you more of both, barring injury.

haha was it you that took him? i put in a request for him but i had to wait until like saturday and someone in one of marys leagues took at like 4am on friday or saturday or something, just right before i would have gotten him.

im always hazy on how the waiver wire rules are and this is the 2nd time this year already ive put a request in but because someone else is higher on the list they can pick the player over me.
