Quote:
A prominent Republican political donor demanded on Saturday that the party pass legislation to restrict access to guns, and vowed not to contribute to any candidates or electioneering groups that did not support a ban on the sale of military-style firearms to civilians.
Al Hoffman Jr., a Florida-based real estate developer who was a leading fund-raiser for George W. Bush’s campaigns, said he would seek to marshal support among other Republican political donors for a renewed assault weapons ban.

To be fair, he's the guy who described the NeoCons and Freedom Caucus folks as idiots, anarchists and a-holes to Vanity Fair.

excluding retired or retiring* members of congress - has a single GOPer in congress opposed Trump in any meaninful way? the Senators Collins from Maine and Murkowski Alaska might be the closest that I recall. Rand Paul?-can't take him seriously -he always proves he is from the cave state afterall.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/congress-trump-score/?ex_cid=rrpromo

in Collins case - she "only" votes with Trump 83% (on the low side for the ruling fascists) -even there that score is way higher than her state's support of Trump.

*the most of these retiring GOPers still don't oppose Trump -Paul Ryan attempting to delude himself that his legacy will be he ushered in Ayn Rand-esque reforms etc etc.

Rand Paul is about as close as they come, but he has still voted with Trump over 74% of the time. Even the somewhat outspoken Flake is voting with Trump a LOT.

As long as he does what the 1% want, he's ok.

Was that ever in doubt?

A puppet of the 1%. A puppet of Putin. Not by choice but because both can destroy him in one news cycle if he doesn't toe the line.
