Bold prediction: Trump approval rating is higher when articles of impeachment are passed than it is now.

Nancy Pelosi knows this. This is why Nancy Pelosi resisted doing this for so long.

Not that something shouldn't be done.

It's all kinds of depressing.

I think that Pelosi's approval rating will be equally interesting to watch over the next few weeks. Ultimately she has been the one person impeachment has hinged on for months. The general American public doesn't know who Hakeem Jeffries or Dingell are or why they're important to the House, and their recent reversal in part either guided Pelosi's reversal or was guided by Pelosi's, and Pelosi stands as proxy for them and many in the House. The turns Pelosi's approval rating takes or does not take will give us, IMO, more indication on public opinion over impeachment than Trump's, which stays glued between 39-43 no matter the climate.

In upside down world, I have zero interest in any politician's approval ratings. Are they harbingers of anything?

If anything is ratified by them, it is that a lot of people are stupid.

It is problematic when dems base strategies on stupidity indexes that prove what we already know -that humans are endlessly dumb.

It's weird they released that summary and think it looks good for them.

OK now that I understand the allegations, the Democrats could not have picked a dumber issue to impeach Trump on. It's going to expose Biden's corruption, and the public will just be like "both sides are corrupt" and throw up their hands. And the people who think that are not wrong...of course there is a huge difference in the magnitude of the corruption involved here, but Biden has been bailing out his failson forever, which isn't that different from the Trump kids. They should have impeached Trump on one the million things he has done that doesn't implicate any Democrats, such as emoluments. Not because I like Joe Biden and want him to stay clean...but because Republicans wouldn't be able to "both sides" it.

I guarantee you one of the articles of impeachment will be emoluments, it will be put in there because they will want to investigate it in Judiciary and because it's more or less airtight and anyone who votes 'no' on it can be dragged really hard publicly on having a tenuous at best grasp on the objective truth.

They'll likely also throw in abuse of power, like they did w/ Nixon, because it's a slam dunk when they have testimony that Trump used the Oval Office to obstruct justice.

The impeachment inquiry won't be limited to the Urkraine situation (including both the abuse of power and the obstruction of justice on the whistleblower), although I think that's bad enough to merit impeachment. An impeachment inquiry can and I believe will examine multiple counts, so I would expect other things to get folded in - obstruction on Russia, emoluments violations with the air force in Ireland if not other places, Kushner's mysterious security clearance, and maybe even some of the financial crimes he's committed. It's gonna be yuge.
