Calling Schilling Human Trash is acceptable.

I can't stand Schilling for both his political views and his [expletive] bloody sock, but is name calling really a great and productive thing to do?

Subtle differences but I'll agree with you that both threads could use better titles.

Massive differences, not subtle.

Both of these people are painting a large number of people with a very broad brush. Just because you agree with one and not the other does not a massive difference make.

I think Schilling is very wrong and dangerous in his position. I have supported what Kaepernick did as well. I also think Schilling is an idiot and human trash, but calling him that out loud does nothing but cause problems. I think name calling only turns people off or makes them take sides, and is very unproductive. We had a thread about trigger words and safe places, and I have heard these same people asking for these things say some very nasty things about the people they disagree with.

I don't know, I guess I am just asking people to practice what the preach. I wish I was better at that myself.

Oh Wart, please don't tell me you're comping Schilling's lousy job of being a decent human with CK's attempt to draw attention to oppression.

Schilling is a lousy human. One of the worst as it turns out.

Colin Kaepernick is calling attention to a legitimate social issue and is only painting with a broad brush insofar as that's the only way to get white america to even pay a shred of attention, let alone do anything. He made a political statement and has since backed up his words with real action and money. His thread is still titled "Idiot".

Curt Schilling has used his platform as a pro athlete and baseball analyst to paint a reality that simply doesn't exist. He pissed away $120 million in career earnings on Nazi memorabilia, but never misses a chance to trash other people. He also never misses a chance to talk about how awful our President and the government is in general, but he sure didn't pass up a $75 million gift from the government for his terrible business venture. Which he then pissed away. He's also used his social media to constantly post homophobic and racist garbage. If we can't call Schilling (someone who clearly occupies the most extreme of political views) an idiot without it "causing problems" or turning people off then political discussions have truly become impossible.

Kaepernick was well within his rights and I will defend his right to say what he feels. I don't think Kaep is an idiot at all.
Schilling was within his rights as well, I don't agree with his assessments, I think he is a piece of human excrement.

I wish neither title called the person in question names.
