Completely unsurprising. Losing billions. Where does the Cancellation of debt income fall?

Let me just go out on a limb here and say he has to be guilty of massive tax fraud. AN people will say whatever Fox spews out, leave tax and financial stuff to big boys smart casino guys. You commoners are too stupid to understand.

Meanwhile us wage-earning saps get soaked in income taxes on all of our income, as well as sales/excise real estate taxes on most all of the money we spend on necessities.

Now this con artist controls the US treasury without oversight. Thanks again MAGA pussies.

I don't know asswipe's timeline with bankruptcy. Something doesn't add up substantively with over a billion in losses. We know it isn't his daddy's money that was lost. That is a lot of debt to finance those losses. To take such losses the property had to be on the hook for foreclosure. He had to have income from from the foreclosures and debt forgiveness.

Saying he got big depreciation write offs on the assets purchased with massive borrowing- the everything is deductible depreciation rules weren't full-on back in that era.

Anyways, there is a lot to dissect. I hope the analysts don't get mired in details of tax laws. Big picture is this guy is a grifter and cheat.
Losing a billion dollars and it is all tax planning, give me a [expletive] king break

and [expletive] you banks for loaning this clown act money. Undoubtedly they recoup the losses and debt forgiveness by sticking it to others.

He is a mooch and insult to every hard-working American that pays their their bills.

This.

I owed a little over $1000 to the IRS this year just because my withholding was inaccurate (thanks new tax tables!), and I dutifully paid it.

How is it that millionaires and billionaires are still making money and living large, but are able to move numbers around on paper so that it appears they don't have enough income to tax. I mean, I know that the tax code allows it, but it doesn't seem right.

In his obsession with overturning anything related to Obama, in 2017 Trump rescinded the rule that the Obama administration put in place during 2016 that allowed graduates of the service academies to delay their service commitment until after their playing careers were over if they were drafted/signed by a professional sports franchise. Of course he did because... Obama.

Now the Cheetoh-in-Chief is apparently thinking about creating a new rule that will allow exactly what Obama's rule did, the same rule he rescinded as soon as he could. He presented it during a speech as if it was some generous new idea that he came up with during a speech while hosting the Army football team.

And I don't think any of us are actually surprised by this pandering to the service academies and his (probable) belief that the idea is original to him. I don't think he even cared enough to know what he was rescinding past the point that it was put in place by Obama and even if he did, I bet he doesn't remember it now anyway. His only concern when he first took office was trying to erase anything with Obama's name on it.

I bet if somebody were able to set a document on his desk that claimed to be an Obama issued Executive Order saying that Donald Trump was the rightful King of the United States, Trump would have immediately told somebody to write an Executive Order stating the opposite of whatever Obama's order said without even reading what the order even was.

Only partially/temporarily possible to do this paper loss and live large thing. Mostly these losses are financed.

Timing is all it is with financed losses, which is what he has-he didn't have a billion of his own or daddy's money to lose by then. No [expletive] way.

So it was borrowed Money in, deductions now. suck a bunch of borrowed money out for personal expenses and salary and deduct them too.

But,supposedly down the road there should be phantom income of sorts, he pays down or off the loan and gets no deduction for principal. Or doesn't pay off loan and has income for this debt relief. In theory financed losses wash out and are a zero sum game. (A few partial exceptions when insolvent, and debt is forgiven a partial income exclusion - a break for rich scammers -tricky high end tax work to see this thru.)

The game for some of these guys is to pyramid scheme, just keep getting more financing to fund more bullshet and losses to claim and live largely off of.

My point is -I don't have to study it, but it is highly unlikely his tax losses are all legit, not fraudulent. If they are, then his financing was undoubtedly obtained with bank fraud, and/or foreign loan sharks like Russian oligarchs etc

they may say this was legal to deduct over a billion in losses and pay no taxes and be rich, without cheating, but that is doubtful. For one, there are rules limiting losses when not on the hook for it economically.

Doesn't take much/any tax law expertise to determine these #s are highly illogical and this is a scammer.

Even before he was president, he was protected by legal system that has the IRS overwhelmed and disadvantaged against big time fraudsters. IRS bullies who they can and it's not multi-tiered confusing Rube Goldberg machine labyrinth of entities which Trump undoubtedly runs his schemes thru. He was also protected by creditors that were married to him if they wanted anything back. Also protected by bankruptcy laws, that serve him.

Now this conman has all that, as well as protection of the office and entire GOP, and rabid 30% etc MAGA pussies that are racists and/or hate the libs so much to tolerate this asswipe.

“Only on the Panhandle.” My dad’s people come from the interior of the panhandle, north of Apalachicola, west of Tallahassee. We never had much contact with them; regardless, I hope they aren’t Trumpers. My dad is but then he’s the reason we never had much contact with them.
