He topped that off by tweeting that American companies are "hereby ordered" to move their manufacturing from China to the US.

He either thinks that is something he can do, or does not care that that is something he cannot do. He either thinks his tweet accomplishes that, or does not care that it cannot.

There's a reason he tweets so much. He wants to give the appearance of doing something without doing it. Doing things takes work, knowledge and follow through. He is incapable of those things. So he tweets.

Yes. Or see this:

Goldsmith is a professor at Harvard Law, and not some random Internet crank. He argues Trump in fact can compel companies to move their factories from China to the US. It would take more effort than a tweet, and nobody knows if he's got the discipline to push this before another butterfly passes by. But there is some basis for Trump's order, as the president has been granted broad "emergency powers." LawfareBlog has more here.

Congress won't stop him, because (a) the Republicans wouldn't stop him if he went Caligula on us and (b) Democrats won't have much of a stomach to protect Chinese factories.

Maybe the dip [expletive] wealthy people that voted for this man will start making decisions based on more than tax rates.

The only thing more staggering to me is the willingness of an insane number of people to continue to sign off on the Emperor’s new togs.

I know it is often said that he doesn't act presidential, but this is straight out of a monarch/dictator's playbook:

Quote:
Mexico border wall: Trump orders aides to seize private land and disregard environmental rules

President Donald Trump is so eager to complete hundreds of miles of border fence ahead of the 2020 presidential election that he has directed aides to fast-track billions of dollars' worth of construction contracts, aggressively seize private land and disregard environmental rules, according to current and former officials involved with the project.

He also has told worried subordinates that he will pardon them of any potential wrongdoing should they have to break laws to get the barriers built quickly, those officials said.
