I think the Mexico border wall deserves its own thread. For one, it was one of the only things Trump was consistent about all campaign. Two, it will be a huge undertaking. The $14 billion estimate seems a bit low for a 1,000 mile wall. Maybe Trump is excluding the cost of labor since he never pays for that anyway.

Today they said there would be a 20% tariff on imports from Mexico to pay for it. Now they are already walking that back, like they have done with so many other ideas that were not thought through at all. It looks like they are just making things up as they go, which is probably true. Remember how Trump's team did not have a single written policy paper during the campaign? This thread talks about the sheer incompetence:

Read the whole thing but this is the end of it:

It's good to spend 15 billion on something that be defeated by a 20.00 ladder or shovel ( sorry I don't know what a ladder or shovel costs in Mexico).

I support increased Border Patrol agents, there's actual benefits there if they can fill the positions.

The tariff issue will damage our economy as prices increased and subsequent job loss but it pleases the base.

Norm Ornstein made the point this morning that Republicans demanded offsets for Zika and Flint, but not for THE WALL.

Trump said he was going to build a wall. Trump said he was going to spend a lot on infrastructure. It was the biased media with the help of Hollywood liberals that CGI'd Trump saying Mexico would pay for it to make him look racist.
