Trump does not want primary fights, but he's far too delusional to realize it. The GOP has tough challenges to incumbent senators in AZ, CO, ME. Those are not states you run a backwoods Bible-thumping anti-abortion anti-science Trumpist against a sane Republican and win. They have Tillis up in NC, a state Trump won by less than 5 points where there are plenty of educated folks in Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Asheville. They've got Ernst in IA running with Trump for the first time since she said she'd go fight against Democrats overreaching (LOL) and she's catching a lot of smoke at her appearances back home from voters who are not happy with Trump, esp over his stupid tariff battles with Mexico and China.

Probably good news, unless the govt decides it’s worth another trial.

So we're not going to send the guy to jail for saving people's lives, but we're also not going to declare him definitively innocent. Got it.

This guy's story brought me to this NYT interactive graphic/video piece a few weeks ago, which was really pretty fascinating. It shows how, going back long before Trump, the US deployed a strategy to steer migrants away from ports of entry and into the desert frontier so that more of them would die in the process. Thousands have died. Humanitarians like this guy leave supplies like water and food for them in the desert to help save lives. In this piece you'll see border agents emptying out and kicking over the water jugs left out for them, so that they're more likely to die. This all seems pretty damn dark. Maybe the wall would be more humane in a weird way. Maybe it wouldn't make a difference, but what we have now is a strategy of deliberately steering migrants into a dangerous desert crossing specifically so that many will die, in the hope that it acts as some kind of deterrent to other.

Here's the piece: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/05/29/opinion/migrant-crisis.html

Look at all the yellow dots.

Implied without a verdict, isn't it?
