Still, dems need to somehow keep the flame lit on impeachment.

Impeachment is far down on Trump's list of concerns. Although I believe his party support is eroding.

Somewhat cynically, I think the impeachment question will have to do with whether or not the rest of the GOP thinks they have a better chance of keeping the WH with Trump or an incumbant Pence is at the top of the ticket.

I don't think they have too much of a shot either way. I can't imagine Candidate Pence capturing the imagination and hearts of the nation the way Trump did with the . And the midterms this year, a referendum on Trump, didn't go so hot. With the economy taking a dump, he'd probably do worse if those elections were held today.

Not with a bang but a whimper.

I think he will be very loud when he leaves office, whenever that is. He will be tweeting like crazy, probably go on Fox News and things like that to scream about how unfair he has been treated. But it may feel like a wimper, because at some point people are simply going to stop paying attention to him (the worst fate for someone like him). Once its clear he's failed, someone in the GOP will attack him and become the new torch bearer, and the entire right wing media apparatus will get behind this new person. Trump will revert back to being a page 3 tabloid celebrity, who maybe did a few good things while in office but ultimately was not far enough to the right. Trump will not be the new Reagan for the GOP.

We might be seeing the bang now. The whimper will come when/if the Republican leadership decides to cut bait and run.

Otherwise, it might be all bang until the bitter end.
