Yes, you can. Quitting a job is a reasonable idea for only some people.

Anyway, back to my point. Many many people say unions have outlived their usefulness but almost no one says the same thing about corporations. Why is that?

Because if my company did something that I was very against, I would start looking for a new job. I couldn't quit until I found a new job, but I am very confident I could find a new job rather quickly.
