Around four dozen questions given to Trump's lawyers.

Quote:
Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel investigating Russia’s election interference, has at least four dozen questions on an exhaustive array of subjects he wants to ask President Trump to learn more about his ties to Russia and determine whether he obstructed the inquiry itself, according to a list of the questions obtained by The New York Times.

The list of questions.

Who wins?

Interesting that they are all open ended questions - giving Trump plenty of opportunity to contradict testimony from others.

A good deal of these are "What did you think..." "What was your purpose...." etc.

Theoretically these questions could give us a window into the reasoning of a sociopath.

In actuality he will ramble through a series of demonstrable lies to the questions he does bother to answer, so we will get a different window to that sociopath. But that window we already know.

If this is now public, it's because Mueller wants it to be public.

Having just taken an 8 hour deposition yesterday, I can guarantee you that Mueller doesn't just have 40 questions for Trump. Consider this to be 40 categories of questions. The followup questions would flow from these starting points. In a deposition, you are seeking every single thing that the witness did, or knew, or thought, at each relevant time. Mueller would literally have thousands of discrete questions for Trump.

Which is why this list is public now. Trump's lawyers absolutely would not let Trump sit for a deposition, because 1. He is a walking perjury machine, and 2. He would admit (as he already has!) to any number of other crimes without even knowing it, because he is incompetent, and also a criminal.

And Zeus, from my expertise of watching TV and movie lawyers, doesn't Mueller have at least partial corroboration/answers to some of these questions already?

He just wants him to admit it on record or perjure himself.

If Trump answers - then what to do with all his non-answers? I.e. when he contradicts himself in the same sentence. And the vague nonsense. Even if he answered these questions, he would never agree to series of follow ups for clarification.

I suspect His lawyers will counter with prepared "answers" that read like the Nunes memo. And Fox News the Blaze GOP propaganda machine will establish what it means.

Or Trump will just refuse to participate, fly off to some BFE place in the Bible belt and boast to his mindless supporters about how he said no to Mueller, rambling about "No collusion" and "Crooked Hillary" and Comey while failing to form an actual complete sentence while they applaud their avatar.

Is he trying to win a battle of public opinion? Trying to give Trump more rope from which to hang himself via internal White House stuff, like more firings or direction to underlings to further obstruct?

My take is he's baiting him.
