Coming soon to a SCOTUS near you:

Judge bars citizenship question from 2020 census

The Trump administration cannot put a question about citizenship status on the 2020 census, a federal judge in New York ruled Friday in a boost to proponents of counting immigrants. Among other things, the judge said, Ross didn't follow a law requiring that he give Congress three years notice of any plan to add a question about citizenship to the census.

The U.S. Supreme Court is also poised to address the issue Feb. 19, meaning the legal issue is far from decided for good.

The constitutionally mandated census is supposed to count all people living in the U.S., including noncitizens and immigrants living in the country illegally.

Most people in that situation won't be participating in census if they can help it. Why would they trust this GOP government?

Just an update on what they've been up to recently:

Quote:
Supreme Court's actions on transgender troops, gun rights, public prayer signal conservative trend

The Supreme Court that President Donald Trump rebuilt over the past two years shed some of its political reluctance Tuesday with a series of actions that gave conservatives hope.

And just in case you had forgotten about Kavanaugh, his name might be in the news cycle again soon:

Quote:
Brett Kavanaugh 'likely' to be investigated for perjury, House judiciary member says

A freshman Democrat selected to serve on the House Judiciary Committee has told his constituents the panel will “likely” investigate claims accusing Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of perjury during his controversial confirmation hearings last year.

And finally, here's an issue that's headed for SCOTUS... because that was the intent all along:

Quote:
Iowa's 'fetal heartbeat' abortion ban ruled unconstitutional

Iowa's "fetal heartbeat" law, the most restrictive abortion ban in the United States, was declared unconstitutional Tuesday, as it violates the Iowa state constitution, a state judge ruled.

The ultimate goal, abortion opponents have told multiple media outlets, is to get the case before the U.S. Supreme Court, which has become more conservative under President Donald Trump.

When the Iowa law was first passed, Republican state senator Rick Bertand of Sioux City told Reuters, "We created an opportunity to take a run at Roe v. Wade - 100 percent."

Remember that Kavanaugh guy? Well, his (lifetime) replacement on the D.C. Court of Appeals has been confirmed by the Senate.

Quote:
A woman who blamed women for date rape will now fill Brett Kavanaugh’s former U.S. court seat.

The Senate voted 53-46 to put Neomi Rao into a lifetime seat on the U.S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the second most powerful court in the country. Every Republican voted for her. Every Democrat voted against her except for Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), who was not present.

Rao, a 45-year-old attorney, has taken heat for weakening protections for sexual assault survivors in her current role as President Donald Trump’s administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, a division of the Office of Management and Budget that evaluates federal government regulations.

Rao has never been a judge.

This country has a decade or two of reckoning coming. This is just sickening.

Why did the Supreme Court invent some nonsense to restrict Obamacare Medicaid expansion? Why did they do a party line vote to decide a Presidential election? To suddenly decide to kill a key provision of the Voting Right Act?

Lifetime democratically unaccountable judicial seats to block progressive policy making is at the core of the Republican party's federal agenda.
