This is really a concern for some folks? With who’s army? Vigilance is good but I don’t see a movement within the government and military to essentially provoke revolution and civil war

his idiot supporters are fine with delaying the 2020 election, he speaks like a king, his family is being enriched/embedded with gov't assistance, he's broken just about every "norm" in politics to suit himself. yeah, i think it's a concern.

I ponder if trump is like this during actual meetings where things actually happen vs when the cameras are on at meaningless summits.

There have been reports from meeting participants that tell you he is like this all the time.

Here's a very recent article where aides are quoted.
Quote:
Several high-profile aides, including John F. Kelly, the president’s chief of staff, and Joe Hagin, a deputy of Mr. Kelly’s, are said to be thinking about how much longer they can stay. Last week, Mr. Kelly told visiting senators that the White House was “a miserable place to work,” according to a person with direct knowledge of the comment...

Mr. Trump, who desires a measure of chaos at all times, is reveling in the effects of his own mercurial decision-making, the people said.

Stephen K. Bannon, the president’s former chief strategist, said in an interview that Mr. Trump’s love of conflict had driven his approach to the presidency. “This is how he won,” Mr. Bannon said. “This is how he governs, and this is his ‘superpower.’ Drama, action, emotional power.”

I don't think he's liked enough by the military to stage some kind of dictatorship coup.

In fact, if there's a danger of a fascistic coup, it's from the military, if there's some apocalyptic conflict that they don't believe (probably correctly) he's equipped to manage.

Remember how 9/11 worked beyond Bin Laden's wildest dreams? Like, he didn't even plan for the towers to collapse, he just wanted to inflict massive damage, but instead he wound up with the most catastrophic terrorist event in history?

That must be how Putin feels now.

It's also how the Ghost Of Bin Laden feels, since the objective there is not just to kill a lot of people but to make us ignorant and fearful enough that we'll vote to power a person bad for us just because he screams about brown people. Bin Laden arguably orchestrated more of where we are now with Trump than Putin.

We voted in Obama twice post-911. Did the collective hate take a jog for a while?

in hopes of destabilizing America and driving a wedge into the most productive, powerful, and stable alliance in modern world history - the US, the democracies of Western Europe, and the Pacific Rim democracies.

In less than 2 years, Trump has undermined and probably even imperiled that economic/military/political alliance. That leaves a power vacuum, a vacuum that every mediocre but aspiring despot hopes to fill. Putin, China, North Korea, Philippines, Turkey. All these countries see a window to subvert the world order and stake their claim economically, and militarily.

The only questions are: How long this lasts, and how much lasting damage lingers in Trump's residue after he dies or is forcibly removed from office.

I think this is where the brilliance of our presidential term limits comes in. Other countries know someone else is around the bend. Someone who is probably more willing to respect diplomacy and maintain those relationships both in the open and behind closed doors. Other leaders have really responded with grace and patience to his constant impetuousness.

We actually know how Trump acts when he thinks the TV cameras are off - worse! We know this because we have at least one actual tape recording of him saying terrible [expletive] when he wasn't aware he was being recorded. We also have dozens and dozens of personal accounts of people that have had to deal with him in private.

Jim voting for Obama twice and then going full MAGA chud was what made the heel turn so dramatic.
